2,000 Vietnamese children diagnosed with type 1 diabetes

About 2,000 Vietnamese children have been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, accounting for 90% of childhood diabetes cases, said Nguyen Trong Khoa, deputy director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management (Ministry of Health) on June 24. Vietnam still lacks epidemiological data on the disease. The disease has become more common over the past seven years and is still challenging to cure, according to data from tertiary children's hospitals.

Masan Group clarifies false reports on SK Group's put option exercise

Vietnamese conglomerate Masan Group has denied reports that South Korea's SK Group has exercised its put option to sell shares in the company. The conglomerate's divestment in Vietnam is still under negotiation. Maeil Business Newspaper reported that SK Group has exercised the put option to sell its 9% stake in Masan Group in Vietnam. The two companies are in the final stages of agreeing on specific terms for SK Group to reduce its stake in Masan under favorable market conditions.

Jobseekers plentiful, but companies struggle to hire

Despite an abundance of workers, companies are still finding it challenging to hire, according to recruitment platform Viec Lam Tot. The number of job postings by companies increased by 30% in Q2 compared to Q1, with the strongest increase in sales, warehouse and clerical positions (up more than 40%), followed by commercial, janitorial and production staff (30% and 24% respectively). Jobseeker activity also increased by 18% over the same period.

6th Cham Ethnic Cultural Festival kicks off in Ninh Thuan

The 6th Cham Ethnic Cultural Festival will run from September 27 to 29 in the central province of Ninh Thuan. The event includes unique activities and traditional rituals to honor and introduce the cultural values of the Cham people to friends at home and abroad. It brings together several provinces and cities associated with Cham culture, such as the central province of Ninh Thuan, the central province of Binh Dinh, and the central city of Da Nang.

Vietnam - Korea Festival 2024 to take place in Danang in August

The Vietnam-Korea Festival 2024 is scheduled to run from August 16 to 18 at East Sea Park in the central city of Danang. The event will feature unique artistic performances, an exhibition showcasing the achievements of Vietnam-Korea cooperation, and 60 high-quality booths from both countries promoting local culture, education and tourism. First held in 2015, the event had to be postponed for many reasons. The event was reorganized in 2022 and has become an annual foreign event of Danang. In 2023, the event attracted 25,000 visitors from Korea.

Vietnam seeks innovative cooperation opportunities in the US

The Ministry of Planning and Investment will strengthen ties and expand the Vietnam Innovation Network's recruitment of top Vietnamese and international experts and intellectuals, according to a meeting between Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung and the Vietnam Innovation Network in Silicon Valley during his visit to the US from June 22-26.

VNG opens AI Cloud data center in Thailand

GreenNode, VNG's AI Cloud business unit, and Nvidia launched a large-scale AI data center in Bangkok, Thailand, on June 24. This is one of the first large-scale AI cloud infrastructures in Southeast Asia. The project is expected to provide advanced infrastructure, comprehensive AI solutions and AI deployment. Through this long-term investment, VNG aims to become a leading AI cloud provider in Southeast Asia.
