Vietnam-Japan agricultural cooperation towards sustainability and digital technology application

The Vietnam-Japan Agricultural Trade and Investment Policy Dialogue was held in Tokyo on August 20, aiming to seize untapped opportunities in the sector between the two countries.

Vietnam's agricultural exports to Japan have been growing rapidly. In the first half of 2024, they were worth US$1.91 billion, an increase of 5% year-on-year. Japanese companies are also investing heavily in agricultural production in Vietnam to establish supply chains.

French firm seeks investment opportunities in wastewater treatment in Vietnam

The Cantho Municipal People's Committee met on August 20 with SUEZ Group of France's Southeast Asia to discuss cooperation opportunities in wastewater treatment.

Cantho is seeking investment in 10 wastewater treatment projects through public-private partnership (PPP) or direct investment. The city will create favorable conditions for SUEZ to explore cooperation opportunities in areas of interest.

Ha Long festivals to draw more tourists for National Day holiday

Ha Long City in the northern province of Quang Ninh, home to the UNESCO-listed Ha Long Bay, will hold two festivals to attract more tourists on National Day (September 2).

The yachting, skydiving and water sports days are scheduled for August 24 and the ballooning days for September 1 and 2. They are among the 31 festivals and events under the "Ha Long - City of Festivals" project that have gained the interest of many sponsors.

An Giang opens first cultural space dedicated to Uncle Ho, Uncle Ton

The southern province of An Giang inaugurated a cultural space dedicated to the nation's great leaders, President Ho Chi Minh and President Ton Duc Thang, on August 20.

The work, built at a cost of more than VND120 million ($4,800), includes posters and photos highlighting the lives and careers of the late leaders. It is expected to spread positive values of the presidents' ideology, morality and lifestyle among local officials, union members and workers.

Vietnam Day in Slovakia attracts 10,000 attendees

More than 10,000 people attended the 3rd Vietnam Day in Slovakia over the weekend. At the event, the Vietnamese Embassy in Slovakia opened a booth to display products, introducing Vietnamese tourism and traditional culture, and promoting traditional Ao Dai designs to tourists. Vietnamese Ambassador to Slovakia Nguyen Tuan vowed to continue supporting the Vietnamese community in this European country in various fields and contribute to improving their lives.

International furniture exhibition to take place in November

Smart Furniture Solutions Vietnam 2024, an international furniture exhibition, will run from November 27 to 30 in the southern province of Binh Duong. This is the fifth time the exhibition has been held. The event is expected to bring together more than 180 exhibitors from countries and regions, with 300 booths showcasing products such as raw materials and supplies, machinery, equipment, accessories, and computer technology. It is an opportunity for businesses to access new technologies and advanced raw materials in the world.

International tourism fair to take place in Lao Cai

The Lao Cai International Tourism Fair 2024 is scheduled to be run from November 7 to 10. At the event, local agencies and enterprises will set up 127 standard booths to showcase local tourism products. It will include cooperation activities between enterprises and product promotion. Embassies and tourism promotion organizations from Korea, Thailand, France, Japan, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Laos and China are expected to attend the event.

Thanh Hoa celebrates 70 years of supporting southern compatriots

The central province of Thanh Hoa will hold a series of events in September and October to commemorate 70 years of welcoming southern compatriots, officials, soldiers and students sent to the North after the 1954 Geneva Accords. Key events include a television program on September 1, a scientific conference in late September or early October, and the inauguration of a memorial on October 27. These activities honor Thanh Hoa's important role in supporting the people of the South during this historic period.

Danang urges policies to preserve UNESCO heritage

On August 20, Danang stressed the need for strategic policies to preserve and promote UNESCO-inscribed intangible cultural heritage elements in the Central and Central Highlands regions. Specific measures include developing mechanisms to protect and promote intangible heritage, providing financial support to local artisans and communities, integrating preservation into economic development programs, and improving practical research applications. The region also plans to expand cooperation with international organizations and UNESCO for technical and financial support.

Quang Binh displays General Giap’s Dien Bien Phu victory

The photo exhibition "General Vo Nguyen Giap's Legacy with Dien Bien Phu", which opened in the central province of Quang Binh on August 20, honors General Vo Nguyen Giap's immense contributions to the liberation and unification of Vietnam. The month-long exhibition, featuring 103 archival photos, marks his 113th birthday. It highlights his leadership in the victory at Dien Bien Phu on May 7, 1954 - a historic triumph that ended nine years of resistance to French colonialism.
