Vietnamese flavors spotlighted at Jakarta culinary week
A Vietnamese culinary week themed "Vietnamese flavors” is underway in Indonesia's capital between July 12 and 20.
The selected dishes are typical and famous delicacies from all three regions of Vietnam, with ingredients brought from home to ensure their authentic taste.

First-ever Vietnamese singing contest held in Japan
The first-ever "I Love My Mother Tongue" singing contest aims to promote the preservation of the Vietnamese language and culture and enrich the cultural life of Vietnamese people living abroad, taking place between May 1 and July 14 by the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan. The gold medal went to Nguyen Tran Bao Trinh for her captivating performances of "Ly Ngua O" and "Thuong Ca Tieng Viet."
Strengthening cooperation between Vietnamese and Thai localities
Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Pham Viet Hung held working meetings last weekend with the governors of Trat, Chanthaburi, and Chonburi provinces in eastern Thailand to discuss measures to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
Hung highlighted the 19 pairs of cities and provinces that have established twinning relationships. He urged these localities to actively engage in exchanges and implement signed agreements to make substantial progress in areas such as investment, trade, and tourism.
Hanoi students pocket three gold medals at International Biology Olympiad 2024
Students from Hanoi in the Vietnamese national team won three gold medals at the International Biology Olympiad (IBO) 2024 held on July 7-13.
With three gold medalists, all 12th graders, Vietnam ranked third out of 81 participating countries and territories. This year's performance marked the best result for Vietnamese students at the IBO since 2019. Notably, it was the first time that several Vietnamese students excelled in the competition's highly demanding practical exams.
Nha Trang Bay of Lights festival boosts tourism and culture
The Nha Trang Bay of Lights Festival 2024, themed "Brilliant Galaxy," features teams from South Korea, France, China, and the UAE competing over two nights, on July 13 and July 20. The event aims to boost tourism, culture, and the local economy in the southern province of Khanh Hoa.
Da Lat railway station recognized as national tourist site
Da Lat Railway Station was officially recognized as a national tourist site. Tran Anh Tuan, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Railways (VNR), highlighted that the designation aims to capitalize on the station's cultural value and enhance its potential as a tourist attraction. Built by the French between 1932 and 1938, Da Lat Station is known for its unique architecture and historical significance and attracts many tourists yearly.
"Youth and Buddhism Camp gathers over 3,000 participants
The 14th Youth and Buddhism Camp with the theme "Connecting Hands" took place from July 11 to 14 at Quoc An Khai Tuong Pagoda in Long Thanh, Dong Nai Province. Organized by the Youth Division of the Buddhist Sangha of Vietnam, the event brought together more than 3,000 participants from southern provinces. Featuring activities such as lectures, prayer vigils, and cultural performances, the event helps foster camaraderie among young Buddhist followers. Two Vietnamese records were set for forming "Eight Lotus Flowers" and spelling "Connecting Hands" with the most participants at the camp.
Ca Mau's fisheries invested US$23 million in sustainable development
About VND536 billion ($23 million) will be poured into a sustainable fisheries development project in the southernmost province of Ca Mau for the period 2025-2029.
The project aims to promote the sustainability of the local fisheries sector and its comprehensive international integration, enhancing its climate resilience and environmental protection by developing infrastructure, renewing technologies, and improving management and production capacity.
