Three Vietnamese dishes in the world's 100 best breakfasts
Vietnamese beef stew, beef noodle soup and broken rice with grilled pork are among the 100 best breakfasts in the world, according to international food magazine Taste Atlas.
Beef stew is a dish that can be served with bread or noodles, accompanied by herbs, while beef noodle soup is a breakfast dish that includes a pork or beef bone broth, noodles and sliced brisket or crab balls. Broken rice with grilled pork comes from the south and is made with grilled pork marinated in lemongrass and fish sauce and served over broken rice.

Danang seeks further growth in wedding tourism

The central coastal city of Danang has invited 20 major wedding planners to visit the city from June 5 to 9 in an effort to grow the wedding tourism sector. The event will allow local businesses to promote products and services and provide relevant information to foreign wedding planners.

Danang is known for its beautiful, long sandy beach and famous destinations that are ideal for wedding ceremonies. In 2023, the city organized about 100 wedding events, raking in up to VND20-30 billion ($787,000-$1.2 million).

Vietnam invests US$136 million in overseas projects in Jan-May
In January-May 2024, Vietnamese enterprises pumped more than US$136 million into overseas investment projects, nearly half of the figure recorded in the same period last year. Key sectors for Vietnamese outbound investment include mining, which accounted for 43% of the total, processing and manufacturing (24%), and trade and retail (8.3%).

As of May 20, Vietnam had more than 1,700 operational projects abroad with a total investment of US$22.3 billion. Major investments are focused on mining and agro-forestry-fishery.

Vietnam's state budget revenue reaches $30 billion year-to-date
Total state budget revenue doubled year-on-year to VND767 trillion (US$30 billion) in the first five months of 2024, according to the General Department of Taxation. The increase was driven by strong crude oil earnings and domestic revenues, which rose to VND25 trillion (US$983 million) and VND743 trillion (US$29 billion), respectively.

Enhancing capacity of aviation security control

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has urged airlines and aircraft maintenance organizations to proactively review aircraft maintenance protocol and prepare sufficient materials, spare parts, equipment and tools to ensure that aircraft are put into operation in the best condition, according to the latest CAAV directive on enhancing aviation safety control capacity.

The move follows the impact of the PW1100 engine recall, which caused Vietnamese airlines to temporarily suspend the operation of 22 out of 45 A321NEO aircraft, resulting in a shortage of aircraft. Airlines have increased aircraft utilization to meet Vietnam's growing air traffic.

Vietnamese NextGen sees AI as a powerful tool for business transformation

About 67% of Vietnamese NextGen respondents see AI as a powerful tool for business transformation, according to the PwC’s Global NextGen Survey 2024 - Vietnam report: Succeeding in an AI-driven world released on June 5. Aside from business growth, technology adoption will also be one of the top priorities for Vietnamese NextGen in the next two years. The survey found that 82% of young leaders are personally interested in GenAI, and 55% feel personally knowledgeable about this technology.

Japanese technology firms to cooperate with Vietnam

The Ministry of Information and Communications and the Japanese city of Fukuoka signed a memorandum of understanding to help start-ups expand their markets and seize investment and business opportunities in countries around the world at the investment attraction seminar held in Fukuoka on June 5. The seminar was attended by 17 Japanese enterprises and startups seeking business and investment cooperation with Vietnamese information technology companies.

Vietnamese culture and cuisine showcased at the International Bazaar

Vietnamese handicrafts and specialties such as spring rolls, bread, sausages and iced coffee made a strong impression on participants at the International Bazaar held at United Nations Headquarters in New York, US, on June 5.

The fair featured 50 booths showcasing handicrafts and traditional dishes from member countries. Vietnam was one of the largest contributors to the organizer's charity fund.

Vietnam attends St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in Russia

The Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang attended the 27th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2024) and he will deliver a speech at the opening session today [June 6] at the Expoforum Convention and Exhibition Center, Russia. The Forum opened on June 5 with the participation of 18,600 delegates from 139 countries and territories.
