Cuban Ambassador recognized for strengthening Vietnam-Cuba relations
On October 24, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) awarded Cuban Ambassador Orlando Nicolás Hernández Guillén with the "For Peace and Friendship among Nations" medal. Since 2021, the ambassador has worked closely with Vietnamese agencies to strengthen Vietnam-Cuba relations through cultural events and high-level meetings, contributing significantly to the friendship between the two nations.
Vietnam posts trade surplus so far this year
Vietnam posted a trade surplus of $21.25 billion by mid-October following exports of US$315.91 billion, a 15.3% year-on-year increase with the growth of key sectors such as electronics and textiles. Despite challenges in the global marketplace, exports continue to grow, driven by demand from key markets such as the US and EU, as well as benefits from free trade agreements.
Vietnam-Laos to boost border trade and investment
Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son approved a plan to implement the Vietnam-Laos Memorandum on Border Trade Infrastructure Development and Connection. The memorandum supports trade cooperation, facilitates the distribution of goods, and encourages investment in border infrastructure, with coordinated efforts in information sharing and annual priority projects to strengthen trade ties.
Traditional Korean Culture Program arrives in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City
A program to promote traditional Korean culture will be held in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from October 25 to November 3. The event will showcase the products of 23 start-ups through activities such as trying on hanbok, traditional tea ceremonies, hanji paper crafts, and business networking. Moreover, the program aimed to help these startups explore and expand their international market presence.

Vingroup launches EV driving school for green transportation
Pham Nhat Vuong, Chairman of Vingroup, has established VinDT, a company specializing in training and testing electric vehicle drivers in Vietnam. Using 100% VinFast electric cars, VinDT aims to become the country's largest EV driving school with 20 locations. The company promotes green transportation and provides career opportunities for students, including taxi driving for GSM's Green SM initiative, contributing to Vietnam's sustainability goals.
Ho Chi Minh City uses AI to ease traffic at key intersections
Ho Chi Minh City plans to use AI technology to ease traffic congestion at key intersections, including Hang Xanh and Dai Liet Si. AI will adjust traffic lights in real-time, responding to traffic flow detected by cameras. This initiative follows a successful trial at the intersection of Ung Van Khiem and Nguyen Gia Tri. The city is also planning long-term solutions, such as widening roads and building overpasses.
Walkathon supports cancer patients through community efforts
The "5000 Happy Steps" walkathon for cancer patients was held in Hanoi on 20/10 to spread the message "You don't fight cancer alone". The event brought together over 1,500 participants, including patients and their families, to promote community support, hope, and positivity for cancer patients in Vietnam, while highlighting the importance of nutrition and care in their recovery journey.
