Vietnam ranks second in ASEAN for GenAI startups

Vietnam ranks second in ASEAN for the dynamism and development of generative AI (GenAI) startups, according to the 2024 ASEAN GenAI Startup Report. The report, organized by the GenAI Fund, Amazon Web Services, and Vietnam's National Innovation Center, highlighted Vietnam's role as a key innovation hub. The report also explored regional trends, opportunities, and resources that are shaping the future of GenAI.

Vietnam, IOM join hands to improve migrant health

The Ministry of Health and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) signed a memorandum of understanding this week to reinforce cooperation to improve the health of migrants and help them access national health systems

The two sides have partnered in many areas to ensure the health of migrants, including in cross-border tuberculosis control and supporting regional cooperation through workshops on migration. According to statistics, around 155,000 Vietnamese workers went abroad to work in 2023, accounting for one-third of the new labor entering the market.

 

Vietnam, the Philippines seek direct flights to boost tourism 

Vietnam and the Philippines are focusing on expanding direct flights to key destinations to bolster tourism. Both countries are also preparing cultural events to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their strategic partnership (2015-2025), including art exhibitions, cultural performances, and sports exchanges.

Vietnam, Indonesia eye US$18-billion trade

Vietnam and Indonesia target two-way trade of US$18 billion by 2028 from $14 billion in 2023. The news was heard at the ceremony held in Ho Chi Minh City to celebrate Indonesia's 79th National Day, which was attended by the city's Deputy Mayor Duong Ngoc Hai. 

Vietnam promotes agricultural products in India

Vietnamese companies are marketing their products at the World Food India 2024, which opened in New Delhi on September 19.

Food and agricultural products include fresh and dried fruits, cashew nuts, coffee, tea, pepper, cinnamon, rice wine, and instant noodles. The event will help Vietnamese businesses expand export markets and keep abreast of food processing and preservation technologies.

 

Miss Cosmo 2024 costume show honors world cultures 

A national costume show was held in the northern province of Ninh Binh on September 19 as part of the Miss Cosmo 2024 beauty pageant, featuring performances by representatives from over 60 countries around the world. 

The costumes performed during the event created a visual feast that honored the unique and diverse beauty of different cultures.

Vietnam records over 400 eco-industrial zones

The country has more than 400 eco-industrial zones and it's estimated that by 2030, about 40-50% of 63 provinces and cities nationwide plan to transform existing industrial zones into eco-friendly ones. The Vietnamese Government has set targets to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

Denmark supports Vietnam's bid to host 2025 summit

Denmark has expressed its strong support for Vietnam to host the 2025 Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals (P4G) Summit. This is in line with the Green Strategic Partnership established in 2023, with Denmark being Vietnam's first partner in this area. Both countries emphasize cooperation in the green transition, underscoring Denmark's commitment to supporting Vietnam in climate change adaptation and sustainable development.

Ho Chi Minh City festival honors fishermen

The Nghinh Ong Festival, held September 16-18 in Ho Chi Minh City, honored fishermen with traditional rituals. Established over 110 years ago, the event remains vital to the spiritual and cultural life of coastal residents, promoting local heritage and sustainable tourism development.
