Vietnam emphasizes global cooperation on sea-level challenges
Do Hung Viet, Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister on September 25, co-chaired a United Nations discussion on rising sea levels, alongside France’s Special Envoy Olivier Poivre d'Arvor. Viet emphasized the need for comprehensive, long-term strategies, including infrastructure development and community resilience. The session focused on enhancing adaptation, financial mobilization, and global cooperation to address the severe impacts of sea-level rise, particularly on vulnerable coastal and island nations.
Quang Ngai strengthens efforts against illegal fishing
The central province of Quang Ngai in October continues urgent efforts to address illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, aiming to prevent local vessels from fishing illegally in foreign waters.
As of September, 4,569 fishing vessels have been registered, with over 99% of vessels over 15 meters equipped with vessel monitoring systems. Strict enforcement and community outreach are being emphasized.

Ho Chi Minh City, Italian city promote cooperation on carbon neutrality
Ho Chi Minh City seeks support from Torino, Italy, in achieving carbon reduction goals and enhancing urban governance, news was reported at the meeting on September 26. Recognized as a leader in carbon neutrality policies, Torino aims to share its experiences and offer technical assistance to the Vietnamese metropolis. The two cities are also working to strengthen cooperation in education, culture, and tourism.
Quang Binh: 15 rare wild animals released to the wild
The Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park Management Board in the central province of Quang Binh released 15 wild animals into the park on September 25.
They are eight northern pig-tailed macaques, two impressed tortoises, one Indian crested hawk-eagle, one Burmese python, one red junglefowl, one crested porcupine, and one oriental ratsnake (Ptyas mucosa). Some of them are listed as endangered, rare, and precious forest species.
VNPT pioneers researching 6G technology
The Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) is ready to pioneer researching 6G to help the country become one of those applying this technology early in the world. The VNPT will research and apply new technologies for realizing the broadband internet access network, open network technologies, along with wireless network access technologies.
Hanoi-themed film to compete at Oscar
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has selected a state-funded film about the history of Hanoi - "Dao, Pho & Piano", or "Peach Blossom, Noodle Soup, and Piano" as its official nomination to compete in the best international feature film category at the 97th Academy Awards (Oscar).

The war film portrays a young couple’s journey to reunite on February 17, 1947, the last day of the 60-day Battle of Hanoi, which signaled the start of the First Indochina War. It won the Silver Lotus Award at the 23rd Vietnam Film Festival in late 2023.
1,500 artists showcase Vietnam’s cultural diversity
As many as 1,500 artists will participate in the second phase of the National Music and Dance Festival 2024, set to take place from September 28 to October 15 in Binh Duong Province. The event features performances celebrating Vietnam's cultural diversity. It aims to promote artistic exchange and creativity across the country, with awards for outstanding performances and contributions.
Vietnam Elevator Expo 2024 to take place in November
Over 100 domestic and international companies will showcase their products and explore cooperation opportunities at the Vietnam Elevator Expo 2024 in Hanoi. Running from November 14 to 16, the exhibition will feature a diverse array of advanced products, including escalators, automatic elevators, and maintenance equipment. According to the Vietnam Elevator Association, there are currently around 300 domestic enterprises and 1,500 individuals and organizations engaged in the elevator industry.
