Annual conference of Vietnamese young scientists held in Korea
The 10th Annual Conference of Vietnamese Young Scientists (ACVYS) 2024 was held in Korea on September 8. Organized by the Vietnamese Student's Association in Korea, the 500-guest event is a platform for Vietnamese and international scholars and students studying in Korea to share their interests and experiences and present new research results in various fields such as information and computer technology, materials technology, energy, and environment.
Cao Bang festival showcases autumn colors
The Ban Gioc Waterfall Tourism Festival with the theme "Autumn Colors of the Water Region" will be held on October 5-6 in the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang. The event aims to promote local culture, tourism, and socio-economic development. Key activities include a water procession, a tourism promotion conference, and cultural exhibitions, which are expected to attract wide participation of locals and international visitors.

Vietnam's Jan-Jul wheat imports reach 3.6 million tons
Vietnam's wheat imports between January and July increased by 18.3% year-on-year to 3.6 million tons. During this period, Brazil ranked the top wheat exporter to Vietnam with 1.17 million tons.
Ho Chi Minh City approves microchip industry development plan
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just approved the plan to develop the microchip industry in the High-Tech Park for the period 2025-2030. Aiming to make the zone a national center for semiconductor industry research and development, the initiative promotes institutional improvement, human resources development, infrastructure upgrading, and international cooperation in semiconductor chips.
Film festival fosters cultural exchange
The 14th European-Vietnamese Documentary Film Festival is now underway in Ho Chi Minh City and later in Hanoi emphasizes cultural diversity and international dialogue through paired screenings of Vietnamese and foreign documentaries. Featuring 22 films from Vietnam and nine other countries, the event attracts a growing number of young audiences and offers valuable learning opportunities for local filmmakers.
Lang Son Geopark receives UNESCO global recognition
Lang Son Geopark was officially recognized as a UNESCO Global Geopark by the UNESCO Global Geopark Council on September 8. The park, which covers 4,842 km² in eight districts, is recognized for its significant geological, cultural, and historical values. With this recognition, Lang Son Province will have more opportunities to strengthen conservation efforts and promote sustainable tourism. The official certification ceremony is expected to take place in Chile in 2025.
Vietnam steps up efforts against rising online fraud
Vietnam blocked more than 400,000 websites and social media accounts suspected of online fraud in August. The country has seen an increase in fraud cases, with nearly 55% of cases occurring online. The Ministry of Public Security emphasized increased awareness and preventive measures, including biometric checks for bank transfers over VND20 million, to combat this growing problem.
