Vietnam promotes nuclear peace

Vietnam will co-operate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and other international oganisations in all nuclear energy related issues for peaceful purposes, said Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Quan at the 56th annual IAEA General Assembly in Austria.Vietnam always attaches importance to co-operation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and other international organisations in all nuclear energy related issues for peaceful purposes, Quan has said.

Vietnam always attaches importance to co-operation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and other international organisations in all nuclear energy related issues for peaceful purposes, Quan has said.


He also informed the participants that Vietnam’s President had approved the supplementary protocol and necessary documents to join the IAEA’s Convention o­n Physical Protection of Nuclear Material.


Regarding the country’s nuclear power issue, the minister said that Vietnam has been exerting every effort to implement its nuclear power projects in accordance with IAEA’s regulations o­n nuclear safety.


Currently, feasibility studies are being conducted for the country’s two nuclear power plants with co-operation from Russia and Japan , said Quan.


The same day, Minister Quan separately held bilateral talks with partners of Japan , France and Russia o­n nuclear co-operation.
