The celebrations will also see the attendance of high-profile figures like the president of Myanmar, prime minister of Nepal, vice president of India and 60 ambassadors and representatives from international organizations in Vietnam.
Leaders of the Communist Party of Vietnam, state and Vietnam Buddhist Sangha together with around 15,000 - 20,000 local and overseas Buddhist followers are expected to be presented at the event.

Buddhist Sangha of Vietnam has worked with the Ministry of Public Security, Ha Nam, Hanoi and Ninh Binh Departments of Public Security on a plan to ensure security and order for the Vesak Celebrations.
Under the theme “Buddhism’s Approach to Global Leadership and Shared Responsibilities for Sustainable Societies”, the 2019 United Nations (UN) Day of Vesak Celebrations are chaired by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in coordination with the International Council for the Day of Vesak (ICDV).
The celebrations feature a program including five international workshops and a seminar on Vietnamese Buddhism. In the framework of the event, five forums discussing the responsible leadership for sustainable societies, Buddhism’s approach to harmonious family, education, and responsible consumption, and Buddhism and the Fourth Industrial Revolution will be held.
Other spiritual and cultural events will be organized on the sidelines of the celebrations, like the Bathing of the Buddha ritual, requiems, a lantern night, photo exhibitions on world heritage Buddhist temples, an exhibition on Buddhist antiques, and an art exchange.
Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Indian Vice President, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu will pay official visit to Vietnam and attend the 2019 United Nations (UN) Day of Vesak Celebrations , according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
