Vietnam is willing to bolster economic cooperation with Algeria – an important partner in North Africa, said Vietnamese Ambassador to Algeria Vu The Hiep.
During his meeting with business representatives from Blida province on October 14, Hiep reiterated the goal to lift bilateral trade to 1 billion USD by 2020 and encouraged links between the two countries to be expanded to other fields such education and defence.
He also highlighted recent fruitful results in Vietnam-Algeria relations, saying that they contributed significantly to promoting bilateral trade links.
According to the diplomat, Algeria exports dates and olive oil to Vietnam while importing rice and coffee.
For his part, President of Blida province’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry Riad Amour praised Vietnam’s development achievements and hoped the bilateral relations would serve as a good foundation for the two sides’ enterprises to set up partnerships.
He also expressed his desire to send a business delegation from Blida to Vietnam to learn about investment opportunities in Vietnam and introduce the province’s potential and strengths to Vietnamese partners.
