A delegation of Supreme People’s Court of Vietnam visited the US from August 28 to September 6 to reinforce judicial cooperation between the two countries.

Led by President Nguyen Hoa Binh, the Vietnamese judicial officials worked with different agencies namely the Texas and Georgia Supreme Courts, the Travis County Family Drug Treatment Court, the Texas Court of Appeals and the Atlanta Judicial Complex.
The working sessions aims to learn experiences with the functioning of the Dispute Resolution System, family court and drug court models, and judicial training, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reported.
The delegation also had meetings with the US State Department, the Judicial Center for Family Affairs and the District Court of Appeals.
In a working session with the US Federal Judicial Center, the Vietnamese side expected the support of American partners and the center in particular for Vietnam to improve its legal system, particularly in procedural law, development of jurisprudence and the settlement of intellectual property disputes.
The two sides agreed on several contents of cooperation in various fields, including the organization and functioning of judicial agencies, approaches to judicial administrative activities, data management, statistics and analysis as well as training.
They will also strengthen their links by using their respective studies in the service of the functioning of the courts, in the main legal and procedural areas and other professional issues of the judicial sector.
In order to implement the agreements, both parties will increase visits, organize joint conferences and work together to research and write academic documents.
At a meeting with Chief Justice of the United States, John G. Roberts, the delegation thanked the State Department and US courts for their support and sharing of their experiences, contributing to increased efficiency of judicial activities in Vietnam, according to VNA.
