The Vietnam - South Korea Design Center will focus on providing a wide range of services, supporting enterprises to develop designs and brands.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Korean Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP) on October 5 held an inaugural ceremony for the Vietnam- South Korea Design Center at 17 Yet Kieu Street, Hanoi.
The center will provide a wide range of services to support enterprises to develop designs and brands, and increase Vietnamese products’ added values through seminars, conferences, training courses, and information dissemination on design for production and business.
Addressing the event, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai affirmed the significance of innovative design to economic development in a country. The Vietnam - South Korea Design Center will also offer activities to link enterprises and designers at home and abroad, provide consultancy and support for Vietnamese companies to hire experts to improve product patterns, models, packaging, and brand-building, Hai said.
He added that the design center was established on the basis of Vietnam - South Korea cooperation under the project "Enhancing value chain of Vietnamese handicraft industry".
That is the result of cooperation between the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade and KIDP since 2010 under the Asian cooperation program in the field of design, initiated by South Korea. Vietnam, represented by Vietrade, is an active member in this program, Hai said.
Emphasizing the importance of creative design in the country's economic development, Hai expressed his belief that the center will support Vietnam’s design industry, as well as its business community, to step by step renovate and develop products, aim at boosting exports and meeting the consumption demands of markets all over the world.
