The minister made the statement at an interpellation on November 1 of the National Assembly’s ongoing plenum.
Crackdown on falsifying information requires specific regulations guiding the enforcement and cooperation with other agencies as well, the minister added.
He admitted the difficulties of the crackdown on cyber space violations, attributing anonymity on social networks to the poor handling of infringements that are normally transnational.
To deal with the problems, the Ministry of Public Security has cooperated with the Ministry of Information and Communications to require telecommunication services providers to block access of nearly 3,000 websites containing disinformation, Mr. To noted.
Article 15 of the Law on Cyber Security, which was approved in June 2018 and will come into effect in early 2019, regulates five criteria of information going against amended the Criminal Code, including that of anti-state indoctrination, information inciting public disorder and violence, that of humiliation and calumniation, information falsifying economic situation, and that causing public confusion that harms socio-economic management or violates individuals and state agencies’ legitimate rights.
