Vietnam to host largest-ever green growth summit in 2025

The Summit, scheduled for April 14-17 and themed "Sustainable and People-Centered Green Transition," is expected to gather leaders from P4G member countries and beyond.

THE HANOI TIMES – Vietnam will host the largest-ever Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit in Hanoi this April, cementing its growing leadership in global green growth efforts. The summit will be the country’s most significant multilateral event on environmental sustainability to date.

With up to 1,000 delegates, including heads of state, ministers and global financial institutions, the summit will be a defining moment in Vietnam's global sustainability leadership.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the 2025 P4G Summit will be a turning point in international cooperation on climate and development. "It will reaffirm Vietnam's determination to fulfil international commitments to combat climate change, reduce emissions and shift growth models, and attract international resources to achieve national development goals," said Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu.

The four-day agenda includes a high-level plenary session, a global exhibition on green growth, ministerial discussions on priority themes such as mobilizing climate finance, food system transformation, innovation, workforce development and a just energy transition, and a business dialogue to accelerate public-private partnerships.

The Summit will culminate in the "Hanoi Declaration" and accompanying outcome documents aimed at strengthening multilateral cooperation on green transition and sustainable development. These are expected to provide both a vision and a roadmap for future joint efforts.

The Summit, which will take place from 14-17 April under the theme "Sustainable and People-Centered Green Transition", is expected to bring together leaders from P4G member countries and beyond, including the Prime Ministers of Ethiopia and Laos, the Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia, Ministers from Korea, Indonesia, Kenya, the UAE and senior representatives from China, India and Italy, Ministers from South Korea, Indonesia, Kenya, the United Arab Emirates and Rwanda, as well as senior representatives from China, Japan, Singapore, South Africa, Colombia, the Philippines and Italy, and key global institutions such as the United Nations, the GCC, ADB, AIIB and HSBC.

Launched by Denmark in 2017, P4G currently has nine member countries and five partner organizations. As a founding member, Vietnam has been active since the beginning, implementing several projects focused on energy transition, green transport, and water innovation. In Phase 1 (2018-2022), the country received support for projects in agriculture, industry, and digital water management. Phase 2 (2023-2027) aims to scale up these efforts through partnerships between government, nonprofits, and startups.
