The police chief affirmed that the police personnel would be unchanged in the next three years though the ministry would take some drastic measures to strengthen the forces.
The Ministry of Public Security will recruit no people to the force from now until 2021, Minister To Lam said in a statement delivered at the National Assembly’s ongoing plenum.
To Lam affirmed that the police personnel would be unchanged in the next three years though the ministry would take some drastic measures to strengthen the forces.
The police forces have been professional, contributing to the social order, mostly at communal level, the minister stressed.
To seek lawmakers’ support, he assured that there should be regulations stipulating the operations of communal police whose role is very important to the social security.
He suggested that communal police should be equipped with motorbikes, communication devices, and supporting tools.
But the minister gave no number of personnel in the police force.
The government has planned to cut down 100,000 state employees from 2014 to 2020. The move might cost an amount of VND8 trillion (US$345 million), mainly to fund their early retirement.
According to the General Statistics Office, the country has 3.8 million earners of state salaries and allowances compared to 26.9 million people in the workforce.
