ASOCIO is a prestigious information technology (IT) award, which has a great influence on the IT industry in the region.
Four Vietnamese entities were honored with the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO) awards during a ceremony held in Tokyo, Japan on November 8, according to Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA).
Specifically, the Ministry of Finance, the People’s Committee of the northern coastal province of Quang Ninh, MISA JSC and FPT University were awarded for their achievements in IT development and application in recent years, VINASA said.
ASOCIO is a prestigious IT award, which has a great influence on the IT industry in the region. The awards are given annually to individuals, agencies, organizations and enterprises with outstanding achievements and important contributions to IT development and application in 24 ASOCIO member economies.
Member associations have the right to nominate candidates for the awards. The ASOCIO Awards Council will review and select the best nominees for the award.
Vietnamese individuals and organizations who have been honored with the ASOCIO Awards include: Prime Minister Phan Van Khai (2003), Truong Gia Binh - FPT’s CEO (2013), FPT Software, Vietinbank (2016), FPT Information System, Masan Group, Hanoi University of Technology (2017).
The ASOCIO Awards 2018 were presented in four categories including Outstanding ICT Company Award, Outstanding User Organization Award, Digital Government Award and ICT Education Award.
The Ministry of Finance was honored with the Outstanding User Organization Award for applying new technologies such as mobility, big data, and cloud technology.
Meanwhile, the Quang Ninh province People’s Committee was presented with the Digital Government Award for its e-government development.
According to Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Long, the award recognizes local authorities’ efforts in administrative reform during recent years, which has focused on forming provincial-and district-level public administrative centers, and operating the e-government.
MISA, which received the Outstanding ICT Company Award, provided administrative solutions to more than 179,000 agencies, enterprises and business households, and about 1 million individual customers.
FPT University won the ICT Education Award for its achievements in training highly-qualified IT human resources. It was ranked fourth among 67 universities in the 2018 Vietnamese University Ranking in 2018.
The ASOCIO Awards 2018 was organized in the framework of the ASOCIO Digital Masters Summit 2018 in Tokyo, Japan on November 7-8 by the JISA (Japan Information Technology Service Industry Association).
It was attended by more than 800 delegates from economies in the region and this year’s awards honored a total of 31 agencies, organizations and enterprises from ASOCIO member nations and economies.
