Vietnamese entertainment show receives gold medal at Stevie Award

The live entertainment show “Tinh Hoa Bac Bo” (The Quintessence of Tonkin) has won the Gold Stevie Award for Innovation in Media, Visual Communications & Entertainment, beating projects from all over Asia.

The Quintessence of Tonkin, run by Tuan Chau Hanoi JSC, impressed the judges of the Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards 2018 with images of peaceful landscapes and its depiction of the unique heritage of the northern region as well as Vietnamese history and culture from a contemporary perspective, which it portrayed with the help of hundreds of performers, an interactive stage, and state-of-the-art technology.

The Quintessence of Tonkin offered spectators a chance to explore Vietnamese history and culture from a contemporary perspective.
The 60-minute show is held every day between 7.30 pm. and 8.30 pm. at Baara Land, Quoc Oai district, 25km west of Hanoi’s center. The show draws inspiration from the spiritual history of the nearby Thay Pagoda telling the story of the pagoda's founding by venerable monk Tu Dao Hanh, and explains the ancient union between religion and the monarchy.
This show is blended six different aspects of the cultural Quintessence of Tonkin: Poetry, Buddhism, Nostalgia, Music & Painting, Joy & Festivities. Besides, water puppetry - a typical form of Vietnamese art, which has existed for more than 1,000 years - as part of the Quintessence of Tonkin - will bring you vivid images of daily rural life in Vietnam.
Not only opening up the cultural space of the northern delta with people's daily life activities, the play also shows the audience the best of the water puppetry art with the story of the venerable monk Tu Dao Hanh and the history of the ancient Thang Long Royal Palace.
