The Vietnamese film “Thanh pho khac” (Another City) is among the nominations in the short film category at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival, which will be held from February 11-22 in Germany’s capital Berlin.

Directed by Pham Ngoc Lan, the film will compete for the Golden Bear awards against other competitors from numerous countries.
The 25 minute film features a group of office staff, depicting urban loneliness.

According to producer Ngo Dai Trang, the production cost 8,000 USD, of which 6,000 USD came from the Denmark – Vietnam Cultural Development and Exchange Fund.
It took a year to prepare and 12 days to shoot in Hanoi and Cao Bang, said Trang.
“Thanh pho khac” gave the 29-year-old director the opportunity to take part in the Berlinale Talents Campus in February last year.
Last year, another Vietnamese film – the “Cha va con va…” (Big Father, Small Father and Other Stories) directed by Phan Dang Di – was also nominated for best film at the 2015 Berlin International Film Festival.
Founded in 1951, the film festival is one of the most prestigious events in the world.
