This is a contest for inventions and innovations that are realistic, recommended and developed by high school students. WICO is scored by an international jury, according to strict criteria defined by top prestigious scientists.
The WICO 2018 was held from August 1-5, drawing 228 teams and 1,100 students from 30 countries and territories.
The Vietnamese delegation attending WICO 2018 consisted of 16 contestants with four different fields of study, led by Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang, deputy director of the Institute for Educational Research.
The topics of the Vietnamese delegation own high applicability, focusing on science and environmental protection, which are now paid special attention in the world, highly appreciated by the international jury.
This is the first time after seven years of participating in the competition the Vietnamese delegation, together with Indonesia, has won the Semi Grand Award. This is also the first time that Vietnam has brought home the Best Leading Innovation Award.
This result is thanks to the students’ hard work as well as the guidance and enthusiasm of Vietnamese teachers and the leaders to WICO Vietnam 2018, established by the Institute for Educational Research. Once more, Vietnamese wisdom shines in the international arena.
