A tourism firm has suggested adding an extra tour to the current double-deck bus travel route (named Hanoi City Tour) which kicked off in late May.
Vietnam-Hanoi Tourism JSC has proposed piloting its new product - Thang Long-Hanoi tour that offers passengers a tour from Dien Hong Garden to Hoang Dieu Street on double-decker buses.
As proposed, the additional trip would be 14.8 kilometers long with buses coming every 30 minutes and operating from 9a.m to 5p.m daily, with ten stops provided.
Vietnam-Hanoi Tourism JSC has not announced the ticket price, however no subsidies are provided and the fees would be reasonable, said the firm’s representative.
According to the firm, international tourist arrivals to Hanoi are growing fast while the city's transport system remains modest in quantity and quality. In terms of buses, there are merely six routes touring around the city’s tourist sites, however they just serve public passengers in general and are not designed to cater to tourists.
The Hanoi government has appointed the municipal transport department to consider the proposal.
As the first operator of the city's double-decker bus tour, Transport Corporation Hanoi (Transerco) said the proposed additional route can overlap the Hanoi City Tour 01, currently operated by the company.
“The Thang Long-Hanoi tour may overlap the operating Hanoi City Tour, which is operating under its capacity,” noted Transerco’s leader.
Though Hanoi authority is open to new city tours to be launched, the new routes should focus on Hanoi craft villages and sites such as Bat Trang, Van Phuc, West Lake, etc.
Hence, Transerco requests the city authority and Hanoi Transport Department to consider thoroughly the proposal.
Opening on May 31, the City Tour offered by Hanoi’s first double-decker buses lures much attention. Until now the tour has served 3,520 passengers, equal to 14% of its designed capacity. Though there is controversy on the buses’ ticket prices, which are supposed to be quite high for the locals, tourists are getting used to this new tourism product, said the Hanoi Transport Department.
Generally, the Hanoi City Tour has received positive feedback from travelers, especially foreigners.
Meanwhile, Transerco is applying marketing programs for the tours such as free ticket for children under six and extra tickets for groups of over ten people, etc.
