Vietnamese Writers’ Global Contest promotes heritages value

National cultural heritage is the thread that binds communities together, and it must be preserved amidst the currents of time and modernization.

The Hanoi Times — Vietnamese youth living and studying in Vietnam and abroad, as well as non-Vietnamese youth currently studying in high schools and universities in Vietnam, aged 15-25, are invited to participate in the Legacy in Ink - Vietnamese Writers' Global Contest 2025.

Running from March 20 to April 20, the contest themed “The Spirit of Us” encourages young Vietnamese people worldwide to express their thoughts on Vietnamese culture and heritage, promoting the “Vietnamese identity” through their writings.

According to the organizers, each writer may see "Vietnamese identity" through a different lens but share a common responsibility: to preserve, develop, and disseminate the essence of the nation’s culture.

With entries in both Vietnamese and English, the contest aims to celebrate linguistic freedom and foster a spirit of empowerment, which enables writers to maximize their capability and share their works with the world.

It is a platform for cultural dialog, uniting generations, and fostering a pride in "The Spirit of Us."

The contest categories are poetry or flash fiction/creative nonfiction of 1,500 words or less. Entrants may submit their work in Vietnamese, English, or both. If the work is in Vietnamese, the author is encouraged to translate the work into English without worrying about the translation. Contestants should submit their writings by April 20. The Legacy in Ink - Vietnamese Writers' Global Contest 2025 is jointly organized by The Penlogue, The Gioi Publishers, VOV6, and HiTV Television.

Through this contest, the organizers aim to spot passionate, talented young writers - voices of a bold, creative generation eager to express themselves and share their stories. The organizers believe that Vietnam's younger generation is fearless in living, acting, and making a lasting impact on the global literary landscape.
