Vietnam’s deputy finance minister disciplined for bad lifestyle

Deputy Minister of Finance Huynh Quang Hai led lifestyles unworthy of a Party member and broke some Party rules.

The Inspection Commission of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s Central Committee has decided to issue warning against Deputy Finance Minister Huynh Quang Hai.

Hai, 58, was deemed to set a bad example as he did not comply with the Party’s principles and regulations on ethics and lifestyle required of its members, negatively affecting the prestige of the Party and the Ministry of Finance.
The commission, which safeguards the Party’s moral values and discipline, did not detail how the deputy minister violated the Party’s regulations.
Hai became more noticed in social media and some tabloids in Vietnam after marrying an unknown singer in November 2018, named Dinh Hien Anh, who stirred up the domestic public by showing off her luxury stuff and revealing her personal life.
Hai was appointed Deputy Minister of Finance in mid-2015. He is in charge of supervising the stock market, financial and insurance services, corporate finance and the finance ministry’s financial matters.
The commission rarely announces disciplinary measures against party members for showing a bad lifestyle. In April, Nguyen Ba Canh, a party official in beach city Da Nang and son of the rising star Nguyen Ba Thanh, was stripped off all positions in the Party for having love affairs while still being married.
