The Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia on August 19 hosted a reception to mark the 69th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2).

Ambassador Nguyen Hong Thao, in his speech, highlighted the significance of the two events, and Vietnam’s many achievements in its national construction and development over the past nearly seven decades.

He said since Vietnam and Malaysia established diplomatic ties in March 1973, they have seen fine development in their friendship and all-round cooperation.
Malaysia is Vietnam’s third largest trade partner in Southeast Asia, with two-way trade reaching over 9 billion USD in 2013, Thao said. He added that the country is also one of eight largest investors in Vietnam with a total investment capital of more than 10 billion USD.
The ambassador expressed his belief that with the joint efforts of the two Governments and peoples, their bilateral friendship and cooperation will be further bolstered in the future.
On behalf of the Malaysian Government, Minister in the Malaysian Prime Minister’s Department Joseph Entulu Belaun congratulated Vietnam on the occasion, wishing the country prosperity and development.
