Vietnam’s leading telecom service provider, Viettel, which is run by the army, sent its Telecommunication Network Equipment Manufacturer (Viettel Core) to the AfricaCom 2014, one of the world’s biggest tech events.
At the event, from November 11-13 in Cape Town, South Africa, Viettel Core introduced outstanding solutions and services, including Versatile Object Counting System (vOCS), the Short Message Service Centre (vlSMSC), Caller Ring Back Tones (vCRBT), and Mobile Tracking System (vMTS), attracting attention of thousands of visitors and potential partners.
Talking with the South Africa-based Vietnam News Agency correspondents, Viettel Core Director Nguyen Hoang Long highly valued the exhibition as a chance for the Vietnamese firm to expand its market in the continent and beyond.
Viettel started producing network-served devices in 2010 in a bid to monitor the quality of the services it provided for customers.
The group expanded its operations to Laos, Cambodia, Haiti, Mozambique, East Timor, Peru and Cameroon. Soon, it will launch its services in Tanzania and Burundi.
At the recent International Business Awards, part of the Stevie Awards, two international subsidiaries of Viettel, namely Movitel in Mozambique and Telemor in East Timor, won prizes for “Fastest-Growing Company of the Year in the Middle East and Africa” and “Startup of the Year”, respectively.
AfricaCom is held annually by Informa Telecoms and Media in Africa.
The AfricaCom 2014 saw a record participation of 375 most innovative, forward-thinking telecom brands and more than 9,000 smartest, most switched-on digital movers and shakers in the world.
