Women’s world cup trophy to arrive in Vietnam early March
The Vietnamese female footballers will face the reigning world champions, the US, in their first World Cup match.
The 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup trophy will arrive in Vietnam on March 4 and 5 for public display as it tours the 32 participating nations of the tournament.

The tour aims to promote the tournament, which will take place in Australia and New Zealand from July 20 to August 20, 2023, and features 32 national teams – "more countries than ever before," the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) said in a public statement on its website.
"The tour aims to inspire people of all ages by 'Going Beyond' to celebrate the rocketing popularity of the women's game," said FIFA.
"At the heart of this mission will be a unique opportunity for members of the public to get creative and showcase their footballing ability to a global audience," it added.
The tour will make its first stop in Japan on February 25-26, travel to the Republic of Korea on February 27, and the Philippines on March 1-2 before arriving in Vietnam.
After Vietnam, the tour will take the trophy to the other 25 participating nations of the tournament, including China, Brazil, the US, Germany, England, and France.
"The dates of the stops in the final three countries to qualify via the Play-off Tournament will be integrated following their confirmation," FIFA said.
"The trophy will crisscross the globe by visiting Asia, Africa, South America, North America, and Europe before landing in all nine Women's World Cup host cities in the final weeks before the start of a tournament on July 20," the world's football organization said.
At each stop, the organization will give voluntary participants the opportunity to test themselves in the Skill Drill challenges that "become tougher over time" and "share their imaginative efforts on TikTok."
In addition, qualified participants from Skill Drills will be able to join FIFA legends, local national team stars, and other popular names to "highlight the game's emerging talent and increase the buzz around the Women's World Cup."
At the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023, Vietnam will play in Group E against the US, the Netherlands, and another team that will qualify from the play-off round.
Vietnam, qualifying for the women's world cup tournament for the first time in history, will face the championship holder US in their first group match on July 22.
