Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism Tran Trung Hieu, said that developing night-time economy has been the focus of the capital city in realizing a prime ministerial decision on this regard.
Night-time economic activities have been thriving in some locations, especially at walking space in Hoan Kiem lake area and its vicinities, Dong Xuan market, and the Old Quarter.
Night-time activities have been efficient, attracting a large number of tourists in Vietnam and from abroad, generating income to the locals and the district revenue. Some Hanoi relics have rolled out night tour programs including Hoa Lo Prison Relic and the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long.
Since 2016, the Hoan Kiem district's authorities have allowed 65-night businesses to stay open until 2 a.m. the next day. The move has proven to be a success, with the number of tourist overnight stays in Hoan Kiem district increasing rapidly, said Deputy Director of the Hoan Kiem district Economic Department Le Hong Hai.
In 2021, the district's authorities will focus on installing more lighting, upgrading cultural and art programs in Hoan Kiem lake area to create a more professional chain of cultural products and services.
Director of the Binh Dinh Tourism Department Nguyen Van Dung said that the province lacks night-time tourism products, so the experiences the Department of Tourism and related agencies of Hanoi shared will help them develop night-time economy.
In addition, Mr. Dung also suggested that provinces and cities should continue cooperating to create new and attractive tourism products, as well as supporting policies for business households in the first phase of implementing the night economic development.
