Vietnam gov’t prioritizes transparency with launch of National Reporting System
E-government is an inevitable trend and a right direction towards a prosperous Vietnam, stated Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
The launch of the National Reporting System and the Government Operations Center marked a significant step towards the building of Vietnam’s government of integrity, transparency and for benefits of the people as well as enterprises, according to Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

E-government is an inevitable trend to ensure the government’s transparency and the fight against corruption and waste, Mr. Phuc said at the launching ceremony held on August 19.
This, as a result, would help boost Vietnam’s economic growth and improve the business environment, Mr. Phuc stated, adding this is the right direction towards a prosperous Vietnam.
Mr. Phuc said the event today showed this year is the start of the national digitization process to realize the goal of “a digitized Vietnam.”
While the Government Operations Center would help the Prime Minister to work directly with leaders of local governments, the National Reporting System is expected to encourage state officials to work online and improve their skills required for a new working environment.
According to Phuc, in the coming time, Vietnam plans to set up an inter-government information sharing system with other countries, especially with those of the ASEAN community to expand regional and global cooperation and integration.
This event also marked the integration of the 1000th public service into the national public service portal since its launch eight months ago.
PM Phuc requested more essential public services such as exports – imports, construction, administrative fines, taxes, fees payment, among others, to be integrated into the portal, targeting 30% of the public services at the most advanced stage available (stage 4) this year.
The Government Operations Center is connected with the National Reporting System, national database and those of ministries, government agencies, provinces and cities, which allow the prime minister and other government leaders to interact directly with ministries, provinces and cities.
Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung said this would change the way the government operates into a paperless one.
Dung also informed that the adoption of public online services helped save an estimated VND13 trillion (US$562.4 million) per year.
