The festival has become a traditional cultural one attracting thousands of Hanoi people and visitors.
Fifteen teams from different districts in Hanoi took part in the Hanoi Dragon Dance festival, which was held at Ly Thai To square on October 6, part of the activities to celebrate 65 Years of the Capital’s Liberation.
The 2019 holding is the fifth time the Hanoi Dragon Dance Festival has been organized with large scale throughout Hanoi. It has become a traditional cultural festival attracting thousands of Hanoi people and visitors.
The teams come from the districts of Hoan Kiem, Ba Dinh, Hoang Mai, Hai Ba Trung, Thanh Oai, Gia Lam, Dong Anh, Nam Tu Liem, Bac Tu Liem, Ha Dong, Cau Giay, Long Bien, Dan Phuong, Chuong My and Thanh Tri.
The Organizing Board awarded the first prize to Bac Tu Liem district; 3 second prizes to Thanh Tri, Chuong My and Cau Giay; 3 third prizes to Hoang Mai, Dan Phuong, Nam Tu Liem and 8 consolation prizes to 8 districts including Hai Ba Trung, Hoan Kiem, Ba Dinh, Long Bien, Gia Lam, Dong Anh, Ha Dong, Thanh Oai. Futhermore, “The Most Beautiful Dragon Design and Decoration” award went to Chuong My district and the “Creative Dance Art” prize belonged to Cau Giay district.
After the performance, dragon dance teams paraded around Hoan Kiem Lake among the cheers of Hanoi people and visitors. According to the Organizing Board, the participating teams brought to festival a unique program, with dances of one or more dragons and other sacred animals such as “Tu Linh” dance (The Dance of Dragon, Unicorn, Turtle and Phoenix).
