2024 International Youth Festival attracts 3,000 local and international youth

Hanoi University (HANU) and the Hanoi Youth Union on November 9, held the 2024 International Youth Festival, themed "A World for Peace". The event attracted representatives from embassies and nearly 3,000 domestic and international young people studying and living in Hanoi, featuring art performances and fostering cultural exchange.

The festival offers Hanoi’s youth an opportunity to connect, promote Thang Long - Hanoi’s culture and tourism to international friends, express a spirit of peace, and strengthen solidarity and friendship among youth, students, and residents of the capital. This cultural, artistic, and sports event enriches the lives of local and international youth.

Chu Hong Minh, Secretary of the Hanoi Youth Union, said the union’s commitment to international cooperation, supporting the Party and State’s foreign policy and raising Vietnamese youth’s global standing.

She said the Hanoi Youth Union has successfully organized numerous large-scale activities, established political significance, and consistently strengthened ties with youth and student organizations worldwide, especially in regional capitals.

"Hanoi’s reputation as a safe and welcoming destination is gaining recognition from international organizations. In addition to promoting cultural, tourism, and trade integration, the Hanoi Youth Union will focus on improving training and education for international students and researchers in the city. This initiative aims to foster a deeper understanding of Vietnamese culture and traditions among international friends, further strengthening the friendship between Vietnam and other countries," Minh said.

The International Youth Festival, held annually since 2022, the International Youth Festival has gained strong support from international youth living and studying in Hanoi.

The festival's diverse and carefully organized activities promote cultural exchange, connect youth from various countries, and strengthen international relations with regional youth. It reflects Hanoi’s young generation’s spirit of peace, friendship, and integration, showcasing the city and Vietnam as a safe, welcoming destination and an ideal learning environment for international friends.

Enhancing cultural exchange and promoting Thang Long-Hanoi tourism

At the event, delegates and youth participated in various meaningful activities, including international cultural spaces, art exchanges, the Aodai Dance Challenge Finals, the International Youth Friendship Run for a “World of Peace,” art programs by local and international youth, cultural knowledge competitions, and city tours of Hanoi’s famous landmarks.

The tour also helped the international youth learn more about the history and culture of the Vietnamese people, as well as the patriotism and struggle to protect the national sovereignty of the Vietnamese people.

The festival's diverse activities create opportunities for cultural exchange and connection between young people from different countries, including the "Ao dai Dance" Challenge, the International Youth Friendship Marathon themed "Run for Peace", and the National Culture Discovery Contest.

The World Cultural Exhibition Space includes 15 booths displaying cultural works from Vietnam and countries around the world. It is a bridge for young people to learn about the culture, countries and people of many countries; while introducing about the country and people of Vietnam.

The International Youth Festival has confirmed its brand to become an annual activity for the capital's youth and has received active participation from international youth living and studying in Hanoi.
