7th European Day of Languages to kick off in Hanoi

This year it’s all about “Internationalisation: Challenges and Opportunities for Schools in Vietnam”.

Organised by EUNIC (European Union National Institutes for Culture) members that include the British Council, Goethe-Institut, the Embassy of Spain/Aula Cervantes, the French Embassy/ Institut Français - L‘Espace, the Embassy of Italy and the Delegation Wallonia-Brussels, the 7th European Day of Languages will celebrate the diversity of the national languages of the participating European countries and promote the internationalisationof schools in Vietnam.
In the morning, from 08:30-12:00, representatives of the six organizing EUNIC institutions and the Ministry of Education and Training (tbc) will highlight opportunities and challenges for schools in Vietnam to enhance international contact. Best practice examples and experiences shall be presented and discussed by lecturers, teachers and official representatives.
The afternoon session, from 12:00-17:00, targets the general public: students, parents, their children – indeed, anyone interested in languages and culture. Taster classes will be offered to enable participants to learn some words and communicate in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. Brief, fun sessions lasting 30 minutes each are scheduled for the entire afternoon. The diversity of European culture will be featured in selected short documentary films to be screened in the hall of Goethe-Institut. For the first time ever in Hanoi, ‘Speak-dating’ is offered, a format to get in touch with different languages instantly.
There will also be a quiz offering attractive prizes for the lucky winners, such as scholarships for intensive language courses, but also t-shirts, caps, books, and much more.
The 7th European Day of Languages offers a unique opportunity for all those interested in language, in culture, in international exchange and experience, a multi-lingual environment, and the enjoyment of a colorful day full of interesting input and exchange.
No registration is required for the afternoon Festival of Languages. Entrance to all events is free.
