French singer and songwriter Sophie Maurin will present a pop concert at HCM City`s Institute for Cultural Exchange with France (IDECAF) on October 10.
Maurin will perform several songs from her debut album, Sophie Maurin (2013), which, according to a press release from the French Institute, "reveals a talent that could be inherited from Scott Joplin on the piano, the Beatles at Abbey Road or the Double Six in front of a blank page: lots of freedom, lots of rigor, and lots of invention".
The album brought her the Coup de Coeur award from the Academie Charles Cros in 2013, and the best debut award from France Inter, a major public radio channel and part of Radio France, and Telerama, a French weekly magazine of TV and radio listings.
Classically educated, Maurin has taken her country by storm with her lyrics and the sweetness of her voice.
Tickets are available at the venue at 28 Le Thanh Ton Street in District 1.
