The 15th edition of the ASEAN Chiefs of Army Multilateral Meeting (ACAMM-15), taking place on November 26-29, got underway in Hanoi with high ranking military officers from throughout ASEAN in attendance.
The event was organized in the context of the Southeast Asian countries nearing the final year of building the ASEAN Community in 2015. ACAMM-15 showed the determination of ASEAN army commanders to boost cooperation towards building a region of peace, stability, and prosperity.
In his speech, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, Senior Lieutenant General Do Ba Ty said ACAMM-15 is an important cooperation mechanism for coping with security threats, especially those relating to non-traditional security while calling for urged solutions for strengthened co-ordination among ASEAN countries to deal with them.
ACAMM-15 was a good chance to boost the friendship, mutual understanding and trust between the People’s Army of Vietnam and people’s armies of ASEAN states. It also demonstrated Vietnam’s proactive and responsible role in regional common issues.
