According to the plan, ACV will build Long Thanh International Airport, which will be around 40 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City, in the first phase. In addition, ACV also has an investment project on the construction of three new airports including Dien Bien, Na San and Lao Cai in the North.
The first phase of Long Thanh International Airport project is calculated to cost some VND92.1 trillion (US$4 billion) and is scheduled for completion by 2025. The construction project includes one runway, one passenger terminal and other supporting facilities.

According to ACV, the upgrade of airports aims to meet increasing travel demand. As per ACV, Vietnamese airports will serve 137 million travelers per year by 2021, and the figure will rise to 185 million a year by 2025.

Arrivals by air, road, and sea in the reviewed period recorded annual increases of 17.3%, 62.1% and 1.6%, respectively while growth was also seen in the numbers of visitors from all five continents.
