Almost all provincial laborers return to Hanoi after Tet holiday
Many businesses have long-term Tet bonuses and diligent bonuses to encourage workers to return to work on time.
Some 98% of provincial laborers returned to Hanoi on February 11, the first working day after the Lunar New Year (Tet holiday) thanks to incentives of employers, according to a report by the Hanoi Labor Union.
After visits by the Hanoi Labor Union after Tet holiday, the representatives found that on the first day after the holiday, many enterprises resumed their production and no one remained closed due to labor shortage.
Businesses’ trade unions have had many activities in order to retain employees in an effective way.
President of Thang Long Metal Joint Stock Company’ trade union Nguyen Van Luan said that his company has more than 1,500 employees with average income of over VND8 million (US$344)/person/month. The company’s trade union takes care of workers' rights with activities before Tet, ensures stable work, improves welfare, supports free train tickets for workers to return home for Tet holiday.
Nguyen Kim Thanh, a worker in the Bac Thang Long Industrial Park, said: "Here, the enterprises’ leaders always pay attention to their employees. Our salaries are agreed and discussed. After Tet holiday, the leaders gave us lucky money for their workers. Therefore, it has inspired us to work on the first working day of the lunar year."
According to data of the Management Board of Hanoi Industrial and Export Processing Zones, the rate of workers returning to work this year is higher than that of 2018. There are businesses with 100% workers back to work on time.
Chairman of Hanoi Industrial Export Processing Zones’ Trade Union Dinh Quoc Toan said that his trade union coordinated with Hanoi Labor Union to visit and encourage workers at enterprises.
