Hanoi to organize fireworks display at single location on Lunar New Year’s Eve

The city will hold fireworks show on Vietnamese traditional New Year's Eve at a single location without crowd and broadcast the event live on television.

Accordingly, Hanoi authorities will organize one firework show only to celebrate the Year of the Tiger in 2022 at Coconut Island, Thong Nhat Park, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi.

The field for the shooting of ground and aerial fireworks will be prepared and the show will take place at 0:00 on February 1, 2022 (ie New Year’s Eve of the Tiger). The 15-minute fireworks display will be broadcast live on television.

No large gatherings at the venue to watch fireworks will be allowed to ensure Covid-19 prevention measures as the city has recently recorded 2,000 infections while the threat of the new variant Omicron transmission is omnipresent.

The pyrotechnic show will be financed by private sponsors.

The Hanoi Party Committee also requested relevant agencies and local authorities to actively abide by the Covid-19 pandemic prevention and control works considering them as an important and urgent task in the period before, during and after the Vietnamese traditional Lunar New Year of the Tiger.
