An art program called “Lighting Dreams of Vietnamese Children” was held in Hanoi on June 15, in response to the “Action Month for Children” with the participation of State Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan.
The annual event aims to encourage social organisations to join hands to support disadvantaged children to realise their dreams. It also offers an opportunity for poorer children across the country to share their difficulties and expressed their dreams about a bright future.
Tran Thi Thanh Thanh, President of the Vietnam Association for the Protection of Children's Rights (VAPCR) said that as well as giving gifts, the program has provided free health check-ups and prescribed medicine to thousands of children living in difficult circumstances in remote and mountainous regions
The organising board (including the VAPCR and Vietnam Television) also granted 38 scholarships to students who overcame difficulties in their lives to obtain good academic achievements.
So far, the program has received more than VND1.5 billion from sponsors and has presented 1,000 gifts and 100 savings books to poor children nationwide.
