The permanent representative missions to the United Nations (UN) of 10 countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) celebrated “ASEAN Family Day” in New York on August 16.
The annual festival—which had a large number of ambassadors, officials and staff of the missions and local ASEAN students and communities in attendance—aims to promote solidarity and mutual understanding among ASEAN diplomats and communities in New York and neighbouring areas.
During the event, ASEAN ambassadors hailed the solidarity and friendship among ASEAN nations as well as the close relationship among the missions reflected by their effective cooperation in daily UN activities.
The customary festival, featuring traditional regional foods and folk games, is a noteworthy exchange among the bloc’s missions to the UN, the ambassadors affirmed.
The beauty of Vietnam’s landscapes and people as well as its traditional dishes and games were introduced to international friends at the event.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) groups Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
