The supplies were subsequently transported to affected provinces, including Yen Bai and Lao Cai, where they were distributed by local authorities.
On September 13 and 14, three shipments of humanitarian relief supplies arrived at Noi Bai International Airport as part of the ASEAN Coordinating Center for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management (AHA)’s response to the devastation caused by Typhoon Yagi.

The items had been pre-positioned at the AHA Center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Upon arrival, the shipments, including 2,000 family kits, 1,000 shelter repair kits, 1,000 kitchen sets, and 3,000 personal hygiene kits, valued at a total of $250,000, were received by the Vietnam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority (VDDMA). The goods were then transported to affected provinces, such as Yen Bai and Lao Cai, for distribution by local authorities.
Japan and Switzerland, in close cooperation with the AHA Center, praised ASEAN for another swift and effective response.
Quote Ambassador Ito Naoki of Japan: I praise the initiative of the AHA-Center, as it underscores the importance of neighborhood solidarity in response to such a calamity. The ASEAN “as One response”, has demonstrated its relevance and effectiveness.”
Quote Ambassador Thomas Gass of Switzerland: “The response of the AHA-Center to this emergency has been impressive. The speed of this regional mechanism, speaks to its effectiveness. It is a source of pride to associated development partners.”
