Japan’s support reaches Vietnam’s Yagi-affected areas
Japan Disaster Relief (JDR) goods will be soon transferred to Yen Bai, one of the most affected localities.
The Japanese Government through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has transferred Japan Disaster Relief (JDR) goods to Vietnam’s northern province of Yen Bai, one of the most seriously affected areas in Typhoon Yagi.

The relief including water purifiers and plastic sheets will help them overcome the consequences of natural disasters and resume normal life.
Sharing the difficulties and losses of Vietnamese people, Sugano Yuichi, Chief Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Vietnam said: “We have managed to hand over the emergency aid with the hope of being able to deliver it to the affected people as soon as possible.”
These JDR goods arrived in late September 14 and were transferred to the Vietnam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority (VDDMA) and delivered them to the affected people in Yen Bai province as soon as possible.

Typhoon Yagi, the most powerful storm in 30 years, made landfall in northern Vietnam on September 7, wreaking havoc on millions of families in both coastal and mountainous regions.
As of September 14, the death toll and number of missing from the typhoon, as well as subsequent flash floods and landslides, reached 348 people, with 281 confirmed dead and 67 still missing.
In response to the severe aftermath of these natural disasters, the Party and State of Vietnam have been swiftly implementing measures to address the damage and reduce the impact on affected communities.
