August 10: Vietnam announces 4 coronavirus deaths, all with acute renal failure

Kidney failure is the common cause of coronavirus casualties in Vietnam.

Vietnam’s Ministry of Health declared one more coronavirus death at the midnight Monday, lifting the death toll to 15.

This is the fourth death confirmed on Monday, the highest daily loss since Vietnam reported the first death on July 31. Notably, all the victims on Monday suffered kidney failure.

The 15th death is a man of 68 years of age, died of renal failure and Covid-19. He underwent years of acute kidney failure, metastatic kidney cancer, and type 2 diabetes.

In terms of the causes, the majority of the victims in Vietnam died of kidney failure (11), hypertension (6), cardiovascular failure (5), and diabetes (5).

The deaths’ ages varied from 33 to 86 and two thirds of them are female.

Danang, the famous tourist attraction in the country, is the most-affected city so far with 273 confirmed cases and 11 deaths. A partial lockdown order is in place in this city from July 28 after a cluster of coronavirus cases was detected there three days before.

Since the first known case of Covid-19 in Vietnam was reported on January 23, the country is cited by global media as one of the most successful anti-pandemic stories in the world.

The country had gone 99 days before the virus reemerged in the community on July 25.
