The second Ban Gioc Waterfall Tourism Festival on October 13 officially opened in Trung Khanh district, the northern border province of Cao Bang, with the aim of promoting Trung Khanh district’s images and people to domestic and international visitors.
The second Ban Gioc Waterfall Tourism Festival is also the chance to promote potential and attract more tourists to the Ban Gioc waterfall, one of the the ten most spectacular waterfalls in the world by the travel site Touropia.
The two-day festival includes photo exhibition on Trung Khanh’s people and landscapes, dragon dance performances, a love duet singing contest, folk games, a painting competition on the Ban Gioc Waterfall, a boat race on Quay Son river, and a fair of local specialties.
Visitors have a chance to enjoy a cooking contest, a painting competition on the Ban Gioc waterfall, a road bicycle race, a boat race, and booths showcasing tourist products and dishes of Cao Bang.
In addition, a concert promoting the friendship between Cao Bang and China’s Guangxi province is scheduled to take place with the participation of music troupes from Guangxi’s Jingxi and Daxin districts.
Cao Bang welcomed more than 833,600 tourists in the first eight months of 2018, including nearly 71,000 international arrivals, up 98.6% against the same period last year, according to the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Earlier, Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark was recogzised as a global geopark by UNESCO, creating considerable momentum for the locality’s tourism development. According to Truong The Vinh, deputy director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, UNESCO’s title has affirmed that the cultural identity, the land and people of Cao Bang have attracted great interest from both domestic and foreign visitors.
