According to Hiroyuki Saito, General Director of Bridgestone Vietnam, the project expresses our message to local people: ‘Keep the country clean and green for a better life. Bridgestone wants to boost the protection of the environment by offering innovative technological ideas, such as these smart trash bins. This is also part of our traditional community services for many years, contributing to the sustainable development of Vietnam.
The project is part of the city’s preparations for the 2017 Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) Summit in Da Nang City on November 5 - 11. Saito said the company will donate more smart bins to northern cities and provinces.
Earlier, the Japanese company sponsored smart bins for Ho Chi Minh City, aiming to raise awareness among locals on environment protection. Specifically, Bridgestone has donated 100 smart trash bins to Ho Chi Minh City Department of Natural Resources and Environment.
It is the first time that these unique smart trash bins are installed in public locations all over the city. From April 16, 2017, Bridgestone was set up 30 smart trash bins featuring dual compartments to separate organic waste and inorganic waste, water filtration system to grow trees and reflective decals for visibility at night on Nguyen Hue. Then the other 70 smart trash bins with dual compartments and reflective decal feature were installed in other districts of Ho Chi Minh City in April.
