Cat Linh - Ha Dong Urban Railway’s travel fare proposed

A single ticket is priced at VND15,000 (US$ 0.645) per person traveling the whole metro line and VND8,000 (US$ 0.344) per person traveling from one stop to the next.

The Hanoi People's Committee proposed subsidized travel fare for Cat Linh - Ha Dong Urban Railway, the city’s first metro project, when it is slated to start commercial operation in April 2019.

Accordingly, three types of fare for the railway route are single ticket, 24 hour card and monthly travel pass. Monthly travel pass pricing is VND200,000 (US$8.6), 24 hour card is priced at VND30,000 (US$1.29) and which is valid for unlimited travel for one adult in one day. 

A single ticket is priced at VND15,000 (US$ 0.645) per person traveling the whole metro line and VND8,000 (US$ 0.344) per person traveling from one stop to the next. Tickets can be paid in cash or by card. Payment by card is encouraged with a cheaper fare than cash payment of about VND500 (US$0.02) per ride.

The proposed prices will be applied during the pilot period and the official pricing will be set after that.  

The Hanoi Department of Transport will work with the city’s Departments of Finance, Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs to work out the monthly travel pass purchase procedure for priority persons according to the current regulations. The above-mentioned fare also includes passenger’s body insurance and intermediate payment costs (if any).

The US$886 million project was originally slated to begin operation in 2016 but multiple setbacks pushed the date for commercial operation to the end of 2019’s first quarter.
