Total investment of  the 1,000-bed hospital is estimated at 4.5 trillion VND (roughly 211.5 million USD).
Covering an area of nearly 93,200 square meters, the hospital is slated to open in 2016 and will have the most modernized medical instruments and equipment of any hospital in the regionl to meet regional standards, offering both in-patient and out-patient treatment.
The Ho Chi Minh City Pediatrics Hospital will also have spacious parking lots for cars and motorbikes, a playground for children, and a helicopter pad – for use in emergency reception or transfer of patients from and to remote areas.
Speaking at the ceremony, PM Dung says the hospital will help reduce the patient overload of HCM City's two existing paediatrics hospitals.
The hosital will provide treatment for 60% of child patients from more than 20 southern provinces and cities, he also said.
The Prime Minister also urged the Ministry of Health, the city's leaders, relevant agencies, investors, consultants and contractors to boost construction of the hospital timely on schedule.

He also states constructions of the city's Cho Ray Hospital, the Oncology Hospital and Orthopedic Trauma Hospital is a crucial key to handle with the number of people who travel abroad for treatment.
The new hospital is expected to reduce the current patient overload at both Pediatrics Hospitals 1 and 2 in the city as well as to satisfy check-up and treatment demand of not only local children but also those from other southern localities.
