Contracts worth US$2 billion expected to be signed at Vietnam's first tourism summit

Hanoi People’s Committee and leaders from CNN will sign a cooperation agreement on promoting Hanoi and Vietnam on this channel.

The 2018 Vietnam Travel and Tourism Summit, the first of its kind in Vietnam, expects to witness 7 to 10 cooperation agreements sealed with total value of US$2 billion between Vietnamese and foreign firms, VnExpress reported.

Among them, Thien Minh Group will sign agreement with Air Asia (Malaysia) to roll out low cost airline services in Vietnam. Thien Minh Group will also sign agreement with TUI Hotels and Resorts Group (Germany) to develop a hotel complex and international resort in Quang Nam province.
Hanoi People’s Committee and leaders from CNN, a US pay news television, will sign the cooperation agreement on promoting Hanoi and Vietnam on this channel.
Within the 2018 Vietnam Economic Forum’s framework, the Vietnam Travel and Tourism Summit will take place in Hanoi on December 5 and 6. More than 1,500 delegates, 500 CEOs from large foreign companies, and 300 experts are expected to attend the event.
The summit is hosted by the Private Sector Development Committee (PSD), in conjunction with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST), the Vietnam Tourism Advisory Board (TAB), and VnExpress newspaper, with the support of Boston Consulting Group (BCG).
The summit aims to increase the direct GDP contribution of tourism from 7.5% in 2017 to 12% in 2022 with more than 3 million direct jobs and 2.5 million indirect jobs to be created.
In addition, the summit aims to analyze and discuss current challenges facing Vietnam’s travel industry, and propose solutions to boost the sustainable development of tourism nationwide. The summit will also give investors a thorough look at strategies, objectives, and opportunities within Vietnam’s tourism landscape.
