Hanoi will host the 16th annual meeting of the Council for Promoting Tourism in Asia (CPTA) between September 5 and 10.
Participants of the event are representatives from CPTA member cities, including Tokyo (Japan), Bangkok (Thailand), Delhi (India), Jakarta (Indonesia), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Metropolitan Manila (the Philippines), Seoul (South Korea), Taipei (Taiwan – China), and Tomsk (Russia).
The meeting is set to review cooperative activities implemented during the past years and design plans to carry out new projects. Participant will define responsibilities of state tourism management agencies and municipal governments, as well as tourism agencies and businesses in developing tourism in CPTA member cities.
During the meeting, CPTA member cities will seek measures to lure more visitors to Asia through cooperative projects, programmes and campaigns. The meeting will also focus on strengthening cooperation between member cities as well as between tourism promotion agencies and businesses.
On the sidelines of the event, the host city plans to hold a tourism promotion conference to help connect CPTA member cities with local firms. The sidelines activities also include an exposition, and tours for participating delegates around tourist destinations in Hanoi.
In 2012, the 11th annual meeting of the Council for Promoting Tourism in Asia (CPTA) opened in Hanoi, with delegates from 10 regional countries and territories taking part. This is the third time Hanoi has hosted the regional meeting.

In the first four months of 2018, Vietnam has received more than 5.5 million international tourists. In which, the number of international tourists arriving in Vietnam in 2018, April was estimated at 1.3 million, raising the total figure for the first four months of 2018 to 5.5 million, up 29.5% over the same period last year, according to General Statistics Office.
