Cultural activities for New Year celebration in Phong Nha-Ke Bang

The event aims to introduce tourism activities in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park to visitors.

Visitors to Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park on the last day of 2018 will have a chance to enjoy many kinds of cultural activities to celebrate New Year.

New Year’s Eve countdown in Son Trach commune, Bo Trach district, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, culinary program, dragon dance performances, street music and acoustic music are among the activities to be held from the evening of December 31 on. .
In addition, travel agents in Quang Binh are offering discounts of between 10 – 20% on all tourism packages and services for foreign holidaymakers from December 20, 2018 to January 20, 2019.  The province will also hold a ceremony to welcome the first foreign tourist of 2019 at Dong Hoi Airport.
The countdown will be held this year to meet the demand of visitors, particularly foreign tourists, who are interested in enjoying exciting activities during the New Year.
Quang Binh has a 116.04-km coastal line and a 201.87 km border line with Laos. The province is famous for its cave systems, incredible mountain scenery and sprawling beaches. It is home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park and the world’s largest cave, Son Doong.
Earlier, the Son Doong Cave has been recognized the largest of its kind in the world by three international organizations, including Guinness (based in the UK), the Association World Record (based in Hong Kong) and WorldKings (based in the US and India).
The number of tourists to Son Doong Cave in the past five years was estimated at 2,900. In 2018 alone, the cave welcomed 873 explorers. Of the total, 290 people came from the US, 154 from Vietnam, 76 from Australia, according to Oxalis, the travel agency that hosts the tour.
The central province of Quang Binh welcomed more than three million visitors as of September 2018, according to the municipal province Department of Tourism.
Of the total visitors in the nine months of 2018, 129,700 were foreign holidaymakers. With such growth, Quang Binh earned VND3.3 trillion (US$141.37 million) in revenue from tourism in the reviewed period.
