On January 26, Mr. Huynh Duc Tho, a member of the Da Nang Party Standing Committee and Vice Chair of the Da Nang People’s Committee, was elected chairman of the People’s Committee of Da Nang, the biggest city in central Vietnam, at a meeting this morning.
Mr. Huynh Duc Tho raplces the former chair – Mr. Van Huu Chien – retired on January 1, 2015. The new chairman of Da Nang was born in 1962 and holds a master's degree in public relations, a bachelor’s degree in economics and a bachelor’s degree in English.
He served as the Vice Chair, Chair and Vice party secretary of Ngu Hanh Son District, Da Nang from 2006 to 2009. He was the Director of the municipal Department of Planning and Investment for four years before being elected Vice Chair of Da Nang last April.
