Dak Lak seeks permission to go ahead with 18 solar power projects

Out of 18 solar power projects which have been approved in principle, 4 projects with a multi-billion US dollar investment would bring a new hope for Dak Lak economy, according to Pham Ngoc Nghi Chairman of the Dak Lak People`s Committee.

Dak Lak seeks permission to go ahead with 18 solar power projects.
In 2017, the Dak Lak Provincial People's Council issued a resolution approving four solar power projects of four investors namely Long Thanh Investment Joint Stock Company, Xuan Thien Ninh Binh Group, TH True Milk Group and AES (USA) with a total area of 7,494ha of forest land in Ea Sup district.
Currently, due to the province’s socio-economic development needs, more promising projects have arisen that need to be submitted to the competent authorities for approval. Accordingly, after a review of the solar power projects in the province, 14 more projects have their area identified and are highly feasible through 2020 (both in Ea Sup and Buon Don.)
The provincial People's Committee therefore recommends the provincial People's Council to approve the adjustment of the scale, location and number of solar power projects, from 4 to 18 power plant projects with a total area of 7,494ha.
Many in the newly arising projects utilize the water surface of the hydropower reservoirs such as Buon Kuop, Srepruk, etc. for project development, reducing the forest land conversion, thus it is quite convenient.
Solar power projects, if put into operation, will greatly contribute to the socio-economic development of Buon Don and Ea Sup districts, according to Pham Ngoc Nghi
“Therefore, in preparation for submission to competent authorities for approval, the provincial People's Committee has drawn up a list of project areas to be adjusted or converted for the Party’s Provincial Standing Committee to appraise and approve,” said Nghi.
